The Historic Central Area Arts & Cultural District’s Community Resilience Program provides capacity-building and mentorship for participants in their professional development that align with HCAACD’s Foundational Pillars.
The Central Area Black Arts, Cultural, and business community was on an optimistic upward course that has experienced delayed projects and canceled opportunities due to COVID-19. Disproportionate impacts create negative economic consequences that trigger and push a critical evaluation for pivoting business models to boost new and renewed customer bases. We created this project to offset the harm caused during COVID-19.
This Community Resilience Fund (CRF) is funded by the City of Seattle Office of Arts & Culture as a response to the impact of Covid-19 on Black artists and small businesses with a connection(s) to the Central District.
The inaugural CRF cohort of three Black-owned businesses will work with a team of consultants on marketing, branding & communications, and infrastructure, growth, & planning for their businesses.
CRF projects were completed December 2023. The cohort received stipends to invest in their businesses.
We will be having a virtual presentation about the program in 2024.
